OreGate is installed on a conveyor belt to analyze the elemental composition of the raw materials fed into the ferrochrome smelting furnace. To achieve the best performance, the OreGate analyzer is customized to meet the exact needs and requirements of Outokumpu.
“Outokumpu is committed for meeting high quality standards and is also constantly looking for ways to reduce its environmental footprint and overall energy consumption. To improve our process and quality control and to increase sustainability, we want to have the best possible understanding of all raw materials used.” commented Joni Raiskio, Senior Development Engineer at Outokumpu.
Tornio Ferrochrome Works has total annual ferrochrome production capacity of 530,000 tonnes and includes the largest FeCr furnace in the world.
“We are excited to start our co-operation with Outokumpu. The possibilities of neutron technologies are still largely untapped in many industries. We are happy to start working together with an innovative and forward-looking company, such as Outokumpu”, says Hannes Vainiopää, CEO of NeutronGate.
